PM e-Vidhya Programme
Ministry of Education won UNESCO’s recognition recently, as King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize during the COVID pandemic known for the use of ICT in Education in the year 2021. This award was established in 2005 with help of the Kingdom of Bahrain. This program is launched by the department of school education, as part of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’. Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’s main objective is to give benefit to 25 crore school children with its comprehensive approach
The official said ” this award innovates new technologies to expand educational and lifelong learning opportunities for everyone, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its main goal 4 on Education.
Two projects are selected annually by an international jury. The prize winners receive a medal, a diploma, and USD 25000 during a ceremony at the Headquarters of UNESCO in Paris on June 24.
The education department is totally affected by COVID. The school- colleges were shut down, they are unable to study properly without any guidance and teacher. So, in May 2020 e-Vidhya Scheme was launched by the Ministry of Education which mainly aimed to enable multi-mode access to education.
For classes 1 to 12, 12 e-Vidhya TV Channels based on the line – ‘One Class One Channel’. These 12 e-Vidhya DTH channels are useful for those learners who have no stable internet connection at their place. These telecast channel curriculum-based educational content developed by NCERT and others like CBSE, KVS, NIOS, Rotary, etc.
♦ Advantages of PM e-Vidhya Programme:-
☛ wayamPrabhav TV Channel:- from class 1 to 12, this is one earmarked channel.
☛ DIKSHA:- It gives a digital platform to provide quality e-content for school education in states, UTs and for better grades, QR-coded energized textbooks are provided.
☛ There is extensive use of radio, community radio, and CBSE podcasts.
☛ Special e-content has been developed for the visually and hearing impaired and developed on Digitally Accessible Information System (DAISY) and sign language is shown on Youtube/NIOS website.
