Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurates the National Yoga Olympiad on 18-June-2022 Saturday for three days.
At the inauguration event, the education minister suggested the insertion of Yoga in the curriculum, as a part of the National Council of Educational Research and Training(NCERT).
In that inauguration event, a huge amount of students participated from NVs, KVs, and students come from the Demonstration Multipurpose Schools of Regional Institutions of Education.
The Education Minister states the statement that, in the era of post covid, yoga was so helpful for the health of everyone and it has served humanity in the suffering and built resilience.
He also appreciated the decision made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as this year’s theme ‘Yoga For Humanity’ and focused that it is important to motivate people to make yoga as it is one of the healthiest choices for their lifestyle.
Suggesting NCERT conduct yoga Olympiads at different educational levels such as districts, blocks, states, and cities. While suggesting this he added, “Involvement of school students from blocks will help in making yoga a lifestyle and add a legacy to it.”
Yoga is a gift from India to the world. It helps in keeping your mental and physically intact. It helps us to connect to nature. It is a gentle way to improve your body posture, balance, and coordination.
Yoga plays a significant role in a student’s life, your body becomes more flexible after practicing yoga constantly it develops a great sense of self-discipline, and self-awareness and improves concentration. It leads to better grades, balances your blood pressure, improved interpersonal relations, and enhances your level of confidence, gives relief from a headache, improves your calmness with a sharper mind, decreased absenteeism and tardiness. In short, it improves your well-being and gives you better mental clarity and lifestyle. The NCERT started the first National Yoga Olympiad in 2016. All the school students from all over the country have participated in this Olympiad.
It is an appreciated fact that Yoga and Asanas are advantageous to make a good or quality health and helpful in making a universal personality.
Education Minister also said that this Yoga Olympiad includes asanas, kriya, pranayama, meditation, and all types of physical exercises through which your body becomes flexible and improves your body posture.
