What is Gyanvapi Masjid Case?
Talking about the Gyanvapi Mosque, it is located right next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi. On 8 April 2021, the matter went to the civil court of Uttar Pradesh and the court directed the ASI to conduct a survey inside the Gyanvapi Masjid complex and try to find out whether there was earlier a temple on which the mosque has been built. This appeal was filed in the civil court on behalf of the adorer of the self-styled godman Vishweshwar. It was claimed that after demolishing the temple in 1669, the mosque was built on top of it. It was demolished by Aurangzeb and built a mosque. The petitioners demand that the mosque should be demolished and a temple should be built on it.
What is the demand of Hindu’s?
It is visible in the walls of the Gyanvapi Mosque that its pillars resemble those of a Hindu temple. In the case that has been filed at this time, it has been said that the mosque should be handed over to the Hindu side. In 1991 also a case was filed regarding this temple, which was rejected. But the petition was filed continuously in different courts regarding this matter. After which the court had put a stay of about 20 years on this whole matter.
What Muslims have to say?
On 8 April 2021, the local court of Varanasi directed the ASI to find out whether there was a temple under the mosque or not and we will consider the survey of the ASI as proof. After the order of the court, the Muslim side mentioned the stay order of the High Court and said that how can it be heard again.
