Deemed-to-be University or Deemed University is an authorization that is granted to higher educational institutions in India by the Department of Higher Education of India. A quote, “An Institution of Higher Education, other than universities, working at a very high standard in a specific area of study”, is declared by the Central Government on the advice of the University Grants Commission (UGC), to the Ministry of Education(MOE) that Institution worked as ‘Deemed-to-be-university’. ✦ Banasthali Vidyapith, Newai, Tonk
One of the Deemed Universities in Rajasthan, Banasthali Vidyapith is located in the Tonk district of Rajasthan and this university offers programs at various levels like secondary, senior secondary, undergraduate, and postgraduate degrees level. It was established on 6 October 1935. In 1983, it was declared a deemed university, and the President of the university is Chitra Purohit. Ina Aditya Shastri was appointed as Vice-Chancellor of the university.
✦ Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani
Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani) is situated in Pilani, Rajasthan. Its main objective is to higher education and research in engineering and sciences and spread knowledge of technology and science among the students. It opens our campus in Dubai also, and after opening that it became the first international deemed university in India. It was established under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 on 18 June 1964. This institute is underwritten by Aditya Birla Group, and the Chancellor of the university is Kumar Mangalam Birla.
✦ Institute of Advanced Studies in Education, Sardarshahr
The Institute of Advanced Studies in Education (IASE) is a deemed university in Sardarshahr, Rajasthan. It is authorized as a “B+” institute by the NAAC and it is situated in the Churu District of Rajasthan. It was established in 1950 and it was declared as a deemed university by UGC under the f.9-6/81-u.3 dated 25 October 1983. Prof. Dr. R N Sharma was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the university.
✦ I.I.S. University, Jaipur
I.I.S. University is a deemed university of higher education in the city of Jaipur, Rajasthan. IIS is formerly known as the International College for Girls(ICG). It was established in the year 2009 and declared a deemed university in 2009. Tanya Jain was appointed as the Chancellor of the university.
✦ Jain Vishva Bharati Institute, Ladnun
Jain Vishva Bharati Institute (JVBI) is a deemed university in Rajasthan and is situated in Ladnun, Nagaur district of Rajasthan. JVBI was established in 1991 with the inspiration of Acharya Tulsi, who is the 9th Head of the Jain Svetambar Terapanth religious sect, in Ladnun, Nagaur district, Rajasthan. Prof. B.R. Dugar was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the university.
✦ Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, Udaipur
Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth (JRNRV) is a deemed university in the city of Udaipur, Rajasthan. It is one of the oldest universities in the city. It was established in 1937 and Prof. Balwant S. Jani was appointed as Chancellor of the university. The Vice-Chancellor of the university was Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot.

LNM Institute of Information Technology (LNMIIT) is a deemed university of higher education and it is situated in the Jaipur district of Rajasthan, which is the capital of Rajasthan. It operates as an autonomous non-profit organization and had a public-private partnership venture between the LNM foundation and the Government of Rajasthan. It was established in 2002 and declared a Deemed University in 2006. Prof. Rahul Banerjee was appointed as the Director of the university.
✦ Mody Institute of Technology and Science, Laxmangarh
Mody Institute of Technology and Science is a deemed university which is also known as Mody University. It is a private women’s university situated in Laxmangarh, Sikar district of Rajasthan. It was established by Mr. R.P. Mody, an industrialist, and philanthropist in 1998. Shri R P Mody is the Chancellor of the university.
